NudgeMail - Reminders Made Easy!

This is a great trick/tip for counselors... Many people use their phones or iPads to set reminders of upcoming events and important dates, but what about those emails you receive from others that remind you of important dates and deadlines? What do you do with them, especially when you are trying to tackle the current challenges of the day? Don't we look for the nearest pen and jot it down on a piece of paper and pray that we find that piece of paper later in all of the shuffle and clutter on our desk? Or, don't we sometimes write that  important date down in our counseling binder and find the reminder two days AFTER the deadline? This cool trick allows you to forward current emails to yourself hours, days, or even weeks before the deadline so that you will receive the reminder email on the day you need it. Follow these simple instructions or visit NudgeMail to find out more about this "reminders made easy" option!

Two easy ways to use NudgeMail:

Send any email to nudge@nudgemail.com

1. Create a new email (or forward an existing one)
2. Set the “to:” to nudge@nudgemail.com
3. Set the “subject:” to the day, date, or time when you want the NudgeMail to come back to you. For example, “Monday” or “Tomorrow” or “Oct 13″ or “2 hours” are all acceptable ways to send a NudgeMail
4. Enter anything you want in the body of the email, then hit Send!

Or use the email “to:” to control NudgeMail

1. Create a new email (or forward an existing one)
2. Set the “to:” to the day/date/time@nudgemail.com. For example, “monday@nudgemail.com” or “tomorrow@nudgemail.com” or “feb12@nudgemail.com” or “2hours@nudgemail.com” are all acceptable ways to send a NudgeMail
3. Enter anything you want in the subject and body of the email, then hit Send!

Publix School Supplies

If you are looking for extra school supplies for needy students, try asking your local Publix grocery store. The Publix in Gulf Shores, AL, donated 8 large boxes of school bags (such as this one) to our school for needy students. We were so grateful for their generous donation! I LOVE PUBLIX!

QR Codes

Staying Connected with QR Codes

This is a bulletin board idea I found on Pinterest the other day that I fell in love with and wanted to share. It is a display of QR Codes in the hallway for parents, grandparents, students, visitors, etc. that are interested in receiving more information about the school and related topics. This would be a great idea to use for "Meet the Teacher Day", "Open House" or through out the school year!
This is also another fabulous pin that I found on Pinterest. I will be using this idea in the front office of my school as another avenue of staying connected with my parents and students.

HOW DO I CREATE A QR CODE?

You can create a QR Code by clicking this link.  This site allows you to generate codes for websites, important phone numbers, contact information, or you can even generate a code that will send a free text. Pretty cool, huh?!? There is an option for you to "Save" your QR Codes so that you can upload them later when you are ready to print them for display.

VOICE ACTIVATED QR CODE! SAY, "WHAT?!?!"

That's right... You can even create a QR Code that speaks! How awesome is that?!? If you'd like to try it out, go to this link. You simply type in what you want the code to say and it generates a code for you. If you have a QR reader app. on your phone/iPad, try it out by listening to this code! :-)
